Tiburon arts commission dissolves its public-art panel

Tiburon’s Heritage and Arts Commission has dissolved its public-art selection panel, which hasn’t met in more than a year and had effectively dwindled to just two active members from a peak of 11.

Rather than relying on the volunteer panel to find and recommend public art displays around town, the arts board will aim to create clear submission guides for projects that will come directly to the commission for review and recommendation to the Town Council.

The 6-0 vote to formally dissolve the panel was taken at the board’s May 28 meeting and came on the recommendation of a subcommittee of Commissioners Trish Ferrin, Victoria Fong and Nora Noguez, which was previously created to address the panel’s future and if the project-review process could be achieved differently.
