ree

Crime in Tiburon jumped to an 11-year high in 2024, with 102 total violent and property crimes ending a three-year streak of record lows and representing a 48% increase over the prior year. Meanwhile, crime continued to decrease across California and Marin, including in neighboring Belvedere, which fell 50% from 2023 to its lowest total in at least 40 years.

Property crimes drove much of Tiburon’s increase, jumping 46% from 64 to 98 incidents, according to data departments reported to the California Department of Justice, released July 1. Crimes of opportunity like shoplifting hit an all-time high, and thefts from vehicles nearly doubled. Car thefts more than tripled to 10, tied with 1992 for the most on record.

Home burglaries dropped to 13 from 16, and violent crimes decreased from five to four incidents.
