Tiburon police investigate burglary spree

Tiburon police have arrested a man allegedly connected to one home burglary and are urging residents to stay vigilant as the department investigates a rash of others earlier this month.


Officers responding to a home alarm sounding on Via San Fernando July 2 arrested Drew Michael Kent, 28, and booked him into Marin County Jail on unrelated allegations of public intoxication and an outstanding warrant. Police say they found Kent walking nearby during their search of the area but that they didn’t turn up evidence allegedly linking him to the burglary until later.


Kent was released ahead of a plea hearing scheduled for July 15 in Marin Superior Court but, in meantime, Tiburon police have since forwarded the additional burglary-charge recommendations to the Marin District Attorney’s Office.


Police Chief Ryan Monaghan said he believes Kent may also be connected to a Via Capistrano burglary that occurred sometime between June 30 and July 5 but, citing the ongoing investigation, Monaghan declined to provide any details connecting Kent to either incident.


Police are also investigating two other burglaries, reported July 3 and 7 on Gilmartin Drive.
