Star-chef Michael Mina’s Bungalow Kitchen Tiburon set to open Nov. 3

Celebrity chef Michael Mina’s highly anticipated Bungalow Kitchen will open for dinner and weekend brunch beginning Nov. 3 on Tiburon’s Main Street waterfront — though prime-time dinner seatings are already booked through at least Dec. 4.

News of the opening was announced Oct. 13 and quickly spread online.

Cairo-born Mina, a Nicasio resident who has won multiple James Beard Foundation awards and Michelin stars, announced in 2018 that he was taking over the 5 Main St. location formerly occupied by Guaymas Mexican restaurant. Last November he revealed the restaurant would be part of a larger collaboration with Hollywood nightclub mogul and reality-TV star Brent Bolthouse, which includes a second Bungalow Kitchen that opened in March in Belmont Shore, a Long Beach neighborhood along Pacific Coast Highway.

The two-story Tiburon location, with 12,000 square feet of interior space and 5,000 more on the outdoor decks, is done in a cool-toned palette of blues and pinks, according to renderings provided to The Ark and project descriptions. It’s being pitched as a “social dining experience and community clubhouse” — a place for a “mid-week bite, late-night drink, weekend brunch and everything in between.”

Planned hours are 5-10 p.m. Wednesdays-Thursdays, 5 p.m.-2 a.m. Fridays, 10 a.m.-2 a.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Sundays, with reservations available through The restaurant also will book private events.
