Tiburon has five years’ worth of funding left for pavement-focused projects before it must dip into its general fund to keep up the same level of maintenance, according to one town official.

Public Works Operations & Technology Manager Patrick Kerslake gave the update Oct. 7 in a “State of the Pavement” presentation to the Town Council. He said the town could need about $1.6 million a year from its general fund to keep spending at current levels once its restricted road reserves run out.

“Basically, the trend reflects a structural funding gap between the town’s desired pavement investment and condition level, and the amount supported by recurring restricted transportation revenues,” Kerslake said.
