Tiburon’s Old St. Hilary’s to reopen for concerts, landmark celebration

After being closed for more than a year due to the coronavirus pandemic, Old St. Hilary’s Landmark is reopening to public events with a full slate of concerts beginning this month and a planned September reception to celebrate the former mission church being named to the National Register of Historic Places.


The Old St. Hilary’s fall-winter afternoon concert series, hosted by the Belvedere Tiburon Landmarks Society, is set to kick off Aug. 22 with a performance from fingerstyle guitarists Steve Baughman, Doug Young and Teja Gerke. Other scheduled performers include classical pianist Anne Rainwater on Sept. 12; jazz quartet the John Kalleen Group on Nov. 14; and women’s chorus Musae on Dec. 5.


Amid ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, the venue will be limited to two-thirds’ capacity Attendees are encouraged to wear masks, and all performers will be fully vaccinated. The Belvedere-Tiburon Landmarks Society also plans to host a Sept. 12 public reception at the venue to recognize Old St. Hilary’s historic designation, though details about that event are still being finalized.
