A San Francisco woman who worked as a nanny in Tiburon was arrested March 31 after she allegedly used her former employer’s credit card to make more than $60,000 in charges for airline tickets, luxury hotels, cosmetic and spa services and more.
The 35-year-old was arrested at San Francisco International Airport after returning from international travel, according to a release from the Tiburon Police Department. The department planned to forward felony charges of grand theft and fraud to the Marin County District Attorney’s Office for review, though the office confirmed it had not yet received the recommendation by The Ark’s press deadline. The Ark generally does not identify suspects by name until charges are filed.
A Tiburon resident contacted police March 26 to report tens of thousands of dollars in unauthorized charges on her credit card, according to police. She told officers the suspect had worked as her family’s nanny from July 2025 to Dec. 11, 2025, with access to a credit card for child-care-related expenses.
After the suspect’s employment ended, the resident’s credit-card company alerted her to a “dramatic and unauthorized increase in spending” attributed to the suspect, according to authorities. The charges reportedly included airline tickets for international travel booked in the suspect’s name, luxury hotel bookings, cosmetic and spa services, retail purchases, ride services and direct electronic payments made to accounts associated with the suspect, police said.
Officers determined the suspect was traveling internationally and was set to return to San Francisco International Airport about 6:50 a.m. March 31. Working with the San Francisco Police Department, they arrested her upon her arrival and booked her into San Mateo County Jail. She was later released on $150,000 bail.
Tiburon Police Chief Michelle Jean said in a statement that the investigation is ongoing while detectives examine additional evidence to determine whether other crimes — including a previously reported residential burglary — may be connected.
Jean did not respond to requests for further comment or additional details by The Ark’s press deadline.
Police asked anyone with information related to the investigation to contact the department at 415-789-2801.
