Luna Blu owners to take over restaurant operations at hotel’s Tiburon Tavern

Crystal and Renzo Azzarello

Renzo and Crystal Azzarello, who own Luna Blu restaurant at 35 Main St., have signed an agreement to take over as operator of The Lodge at Tiburon hotel’s Tiburon Tavern restaurant, banquet and room-service operation on June 1.

Tiburon Tavern, at 1651 Tiburon Blvd., has been closed since March 2020, when pandemic-related restrictions first went into place. The Azzarellos said they hope to have the restaurant open for breakfast by June 15, then ramp up quickly to add lunch and dinner featuring California cuisine. They have hired Babak Nasser, who received his culinary training in Italy, as executive chef.

Luna Blu, which opened in 2013 at 35 Main St. and focuses on Sicilian seafood, will remain open.
