New operator to bring movies back to Tiburon Playhouse
Updated: Jan 27
The Tiburon Playhouse is reportedly set to open under new ownership as early as this summer, welcome news for local cinephiles who decried the downtown landmark’s closure in September 2020.
John Hoffman of A&C Ventures, the commercial real-estate firm that owns the Playhouse building and many other buildings downtown, told members of the Tiburon Peninsula Chamber of Commerce board on Jan. 19 that Hollywood-based Cinelounge had signed a lease to operate the theater, located at 40 Main St., according to Town Councilmember Noah Griffin and Heritage and Arts Commissioner Nora Noguez, who both serve on the chamber board.
Hoffman reportedly confirmed the company is targeting a summer opening and that it plans to do work to the interior of the building. A&C Ventures and Cinelounge did not respond to requests for comment by The Ark's press time.
